Biography

Jason Graves is a two-time BAFTA-winning video game composer celebrated for his textural concept scores and inventive orchestration across cinematic narrative games, film and TV.

His credits trace the arc of modern interactive storytelling — the Dead Space trilogy, Still Wakes the Deep, the Dark Pictures Anthology, No Rest for the Wicked, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, the Moss games, Tomb Raider, Far Cry Primal, Until Dawn and The Order: 1886. Graves moves fluidly between sweeping orchestral writing and intimate, experimental sound design, shaping distinct sonic worlds for horror, fantasy, historical and pastoral settings alike.

That signature comes from composing with sound itself. For Still Wakes the Deep he built a custom metal instrument nicknamed "The Rig," paired with a Moog Model D for a score steeped in dread, while Far Cry Primal was assembled almost entirely from the natural world — ram's horn, bone, antler and ritual percussion. It was his landmark horror score for Dead Space — still intact in the 2023 remake — that earned two BAFTA Awards, for Original Score and Use of Audio.

A classically trained composer and world percussionist who performs on his own recordings, Graves also writes for screen, with music heard in DC's Swamp Thing and 20th Century Studios' Prey. A graduate of the University of Southern California's film scoring program, he records his live orchestral scores at Abbey Road Studios, AIR Studios and Skywalker Sound.
